MoSo is a music and technology event that has been held annually in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in Canada since 2011. It is divided into two parts held concurrently: a technology conference known as MoSo Conf (the name MoSo is derived from the term "Mobile Social"), and a music festival known as MoSo Fest. Technology-related sessions take place during the day Thursday to Saturday; musical performances generally happen at night Wednesday to Sunday, although a daytime outdoor stage was added in 2014 accompanied by several food carts. The event typically takes place in the second or third week of June.
MoSo was started by Ryan Lejbak, founder and CEO of the Saskatoon digital agency zu. It was inspired by the Austin, Texas-based festival SXSW.
Artists who have performed at MoSo Fest include Timber Timbre, We Are the City, Rah Rah, Ladyhawk and Astronautalis.
Moso Island is an island off the northwest coast of Efate in Vanuatu, in Shefa Province. It is separated from Efate by Namoso Passage, which is 200 meters wide at its narrowest point.
Along with Lelepa, it creates the harbour at north Efate known as Port Havannah. This harbour was a focal point during World War II, with many troops stationed there, including posts on Moso itself. Today, small tokens of the soldiers' presence can still be seen on Moso.
