Montrose (band)

Montrose was a California-based hard rock band. The band originally featured Ronnie Montrose on guitar and future solo artist and Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar. Rounding out the original foursome were bassist Bill Church and drummer Denny Carmassi.

Montrose (album)

Montrose is the debut album by the California-based hard rock band Montrose released in 1973 on the Warner Bros. label. It was produced by Ted Templeman. The album marks the recording debut of vocalist Sammy Hagar, who would later achieve international success as a solo artist and member of Van Halen.

Montrose (Metro-North station)

Montrose was a station on the Hudson Line of the Metro-North Railroad which served the residents of the hamlet of Montrose, New York until its closure in 1996 when it and the next station southbound, Crugers, were replaced by the Cortlandt station between them.

The station, isolated and lightly used, was replaced as the last stage of expanding the Hudson Line to six-car high-level platforms. Such a conversion was not possible at Montrose due to the station being surrounded by protected wetlands as well as a bridge abutment adjacent to the station prohibiting such expansion. The station had 102 parking spaces for commuter usage.

Montrose (Clarksville, Maryland)

Montrose is a historic slave plantation located at Clarksville, Howard County, Maryland, United States. It was built in 1844 by Dr. William H. Hardey, prominent physician and secessionist in the American Civil War. One of Dr. Hardey's six children married John Randall, brother of James Ryder Randall, the author of " Maryland, My Maryland!" The house is basically a five- bay-wide, two-bay-deep, and -story stone structure with two dormers set into the gable roof on its south elevation and wide brick chimneys set into its east and west walls. A shingled -story cottage lies north of Montrose with barns and outbuildings lying northwest of them both.

Montrose resides next to Huntington Farms, a house built by his brother John T. Hardey. The farm has been subdivided to 4.2 acres for residential construction, with the gravesite for the family and slaves located between two pipe-stem driveways for the development.

Montrose was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Montrose (horse)

Montrose (1884–1898) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse that is best remembered for winning the 1887 Kentucky Derby. He was foaled in Kentucky and owned by the Labold brothers from Cincinnati, Ohio. He was ridden by Isaac E. Lewis in the Derby. The brothers made $20,000 on Montrose's win in the Derby.

Montrose also won the Morrissey Stakes and Great Western Handicap when he was a four-year-old and won the Kearney Stakes run in Saratoga, New York as a five-year-old. Montrose died on July 30, 1898 at the age of 14 years at the farm of Allen W. Thurman in Columbus, Ohio.

Montrose is a historic farmhouse located near McKenney, Dinwiddie County, Virginia. The original section was built about 1828, and is a 1 1/2-story, three-bay, frame structure with a center-hall plan. It has been enlarged at least twice to become "L"-shaped in plan. It features a double-shouldered end chimneys of stone with brick stacks. The interior has Federal style woodwork. It was the birthplace of the Confederate General Roger Atkinson Pryor and long the home of the locally prominent Baskerville family.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Montrose is a historic estate and national historic district located at Hillsborough, Orange County, North Carolina. The main house was built about 1900 and remodeled in 1948. It is a two-story, three bay, double-pile frame dwelling with a high-hip, slate-covered roof, and flanking one-story wings. It features a Colonial Revival style pedimented entrance pavilion with a swan's neck pediment. Also on the property are the contributing William Alexander Graham Law Office (1842, c. 1893) with Federal style design elements, garage (1935), kitchen (c. 1845), smokehouse (c. 1830), pump house (1948), tractor shed (1948), animal shelter (1948), barn (c. 1830-1845) and the landscaped gardens (c. 1842-1977).

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. It is located in the Hillsborough Historic District.
