Monasa
Monasa is a genus of puffbird in the Bucconidae family. Established by Louis Jean Pierre Vieillot in 1816, it contains the following species:
- Black nunbird (Monasa atra)
- Yellow-billed nunbird (Monasa flavirostris)
- White-fronted nunbird (Monasa morphoeus)
- Black-fronted nunbird (Monasa nigrifrons)
The name Monasa comes from the Greek word monas (a form of monos), meaning "solitary".
