Mohan Rao, known mononymously as Mohan, is an Indian film actor, known for his works predominantly in Tamil cinema, and a few Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam films. He is also known as Kokila Mohan after his debut film Kokila. In 1982, he received the Filmfare Award for Best Tamil Actor for his work in Payanangal Mudivathillai

Playback singer and dubbing actor S.N.Surendar has given voice for Mohan for more than 75 films.

Mohan (legendary)

The Muan, Moan or Mohan (moo-ahn), sometimes also known as Poira is a name applied to several mythological or otherwise supernatural creatures in South and Central American folklore. The most common and widespread use of the term is to refer to the souls of the dead and the indigenous ancestors of old. The word is also used for shamans or witch doctors in some Colombian indigenous cultures (such as the Panches).

Mohan is an Indian director of Malayalam films. Mohan has done several critically acclaimed films including Angene Oru Avadhikkalathu, Pakshe, Isabella, Oru Katha Oru Nunnakkatha, Idavela, Vida Parayum Munpe, Randu Penkuttikal and Shalini Ente Koottukari. He has scripted five films, Angene Oru Avadhikkalathu, Mukham, Sruthi, Alolam and Vida Parayum Mumbe, and wrote the story of two films, Ithile Iniyum Varu and Kathayariyathe. He himself produced his film Upaasna.

He began his career working as an assistant director for P. Venu in his films. His association with screenwriter John Paul has always spawned critically and commercially successful films. He has also associated with master writer Padmarajan in the films Idavela, Kochu Kochu Thettukal and Shalini Ente Koottukari. He is widely considered to be one of the major directors during the 1980s, the golden era of Malayalam cinema.
