Midnight blue

Midnight blue is a dark shade of blue named for its resemblance to the identifiably blue color of a moonlit night sky on or near the night of a full moon. Midnight blue is the color of a vat full of indigo dye; therefore, midnight blue may also be considered a dark shade of indigo. Midnight blue is identifiably blue to the eye in sunlight or full-spectrum light, but can appear black under certain more limited spectra sometimes found in artificial lighting (especially early 20th century incandescent). It is similar to navy, which is also a dark blue.

Midnight Blue (Louise Tucker song)

"Midnight Blue" is the title of a 1982-3 international hit by Louise Tucker which served as the title cut for Tucker's debut album Midnight Blue. The single also features Charlie Skarbek on vocals.

In the spring of 1982 opera singer Louise Tucker met record producer Tim Smit when she accompanied his sister-in-law who'd come to babysit for him: this meeting led to Tucker recording the demo for the track "Midnight Blue" - which utilized the melody of " Sonata Pathétique" by Beethoven - with Smit and his friend Charlie Skarbek producing. Smit and Skarbek successfully shopped the track to the Dutch division of Ariola Records and the finished track was cut at Chestnut Studios in Farnham.

The track entered the UK charts about a year after its recording in April 1983: it failed to become a major hit peaking at #59. See Notes

Midnight Blue (TV series)

Midnight Blue was a sexually themed public access cable television program that aired on Channel J in New York City.

The show debuted in 1974, as Screw publisher Al Goldstein parlayed his publishing success into a cable access show, a freeform interview program that played on the late night airwaves of Manhattan cable for more than twenty-five years.

Midnight Blue was the subject of controversy when Al Goldstein testified before the United States Supreme Court in 1995 as part of a lawsuit brought against Time Warner Cable's plan to scramble sexually explicit public access programs unless subscribers gave written consent for them. The Supreme Court ultimately ruled in Goldstein's favor in 2000.

Al Goldstein was the host and producer along with radio personality Alex Bennett. Alex Bennett and Screw Editor Bruce David were its creators and original producers.
