What is "meliora"

Meliora is a Latin adjective meaning "better". It is the neuter plural ( nominative or accusative) form of the adjective "melior, -or, -us".

It may be used in the accusative and substantively (i.e., as a noun) to mean "better things", "always better", "ever better", or, more fully, "for the pursuit of the better".

It is also the motto of University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, voted for by the faculty in 1851 and translated as "ever better" or "always better".

Meliora ( Latin for "the pursuit of something better") is the third full-length album by Swedish heavy metal band Ghost. The album was produced by Klas Åhlund and released on August 21, 2015. It marked the retiring of lead vocalist Papa Emeritus II, who was replaced by his younger brother, Papa Emeritus III.

The album was generally well-received, with several music publications placing it on their list of the best heavy metal albums of the year and winning Best Hard Rock/Metal Album at the 2015 Grammis Awards. Its lead single " Cirice" won the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
