Matelotte
Matelote \Mat"e*lote\ (m[a^]t"[-e]*l[=o]t), Matelotte \Mat"e*lotte\ (m[a^]t"[-e]*l[o^]t), n. [F. matelote, fr. matelot a sailor; properly, a dish such as a sailors prepare.]
A stew, commonly of fish, flavored with wine, and served with a wine sauce containing onions, mushrooms, etc.
An old dance of sailors, in double time, and somewhat like a hornpipe.
