Manasseh (; "Mnaše") is an Ancient Hebrew language name for men meaning "causing to forget".
Manasseh or Menashe ( Samaritan Manaṯ) was, according to the Book of Genesis, the first son of Joseph and Asenath. Asenath was an Egyptian woman whom Pharaoh gave to Joseph as wife, and the daughter of Potipherah, a priest of On. Manasseh was born in Egypt before the arrival of the children of Israel from Canaan.
Manasseh is a masculine given name of ancient Hebrew origin.

Mannasseh or Mannasses was a Jewish High Priest (ca. 245-240 BCE) during the time of the Second Temple. He was the son of Jaddua and brother of Onias I.
He was succeeded by his nephew's son Onias II.
