What is "mahasamund"

Mahasamund is a city in Mahasamund District and biggest Municipal Council in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. The city is divided into 34 wards and four zones and it is the largest city in the Trans-Mahanadi Area. It is also the administrative headquarters of Mahasamund District and part of the proposed new Municipal Corporation, along with Dhamtari, Birgaon, and Charoda. The present Mayor (Nagar Palika) is Mr.Pavan Patel. People of this area demanding to create new Revenue Division of Mahasamund Division Sambhag (Revenue Division) comprising Mahasamund District, Gariaband District and Baloda Bazar District.

Mahasamund is a Lok Sabha parliamentary constituency in Chhattisgarh.

Mahasamund (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is one of the 90 assembly constituencies of Chhattisgarh a central state of India. Mahasamund is also part of Mahasamund Lok Sabha constituency. It is a reserved seat for the Scheduled Castes (SC).

Previously, Masturi was part of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly until state of Chhattisgarh create in 2000.
