What is "maenza"

Maenza is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Latina in the Italian region Lazio, located about southeast of Rome and about east of Latina.

Maenza borders the following municipalities: Carpineto Romano, Giuliano di Roma, Priverno, Prossedi, Roccagorga, Supino. It is home to a castle, originally built as a watchtower in the 12th-13th centuries, and enlarged in the 16th century.
