Madhan (born July 11, 1947 in Srirangam), whose real name is Maadapoosi Krishnaswamy Govinda Iyengar, is a noted Tamil cartoonist, journalist, writer and film critic who worked for Ananda Vikatan magazine, a leading Tamil weekly. Though his native is Thanjavur, he was brought up in Chennai. He did his schooling at Triplicane Hindu School and his college education at Vivekananda College, Chennai.
During the 1970s, he started his career as cartoonist at Ananda Vikatan magazine. Later he was assistant editor of Ananda Vikatan and Junior Vikatan. He also answered to the questions asked from the readers in Hi Madhan in Ananda Vikatan which is very popular and informative. He anchored a program in SUN TV channel in 1999, answering viewer's questions in various fields specially science and history. He wrote the dialogue for Anbe Sivam, a 2003 film in which he also had a brief appearance, and is the author of Vandhargal Vendrargal, an account of Mughal rule in India. He is also author of Manithanukkul Mirugum series in Ananda Vikatan which was later released as a book. He also anchored a popular movie review programme named "Madhan's Thirai Paarvai" in Star Vijay television and a film review programme called "Madhan's Talkies" in the Tamil channel Jaya TV. He is currently hosting a film review show 'Madhan Movie Matinee' in PudhuYugam TV. He's the only film critic in the world who uses a cartoon to represent a film. He was also closely associated with writer Sujatha.
He started his own Tamil magazine 'Vin Naayagan' in association with Salem Vinayaka Mission group. But they stopped the publication of this magazine within a year of launch (1999). He has also written "Manidhanum Marmangalum" and "KiMu -KiPi". Both have a wide range of information about supernatural powers and the history of mankind.
He was one of the juries for the TV program "Naalaya Iyakunar" Season-1. Madhan resides in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Madhan was removed from writing in Ananda Vikatan stating that he behaves pro-AIADMK. This was published in Ananda Vikatan issue released on 17-May-2012. There has been a mixed reaction for this decision, as Madhan has majorly contributed to this magazine group for 30 odd years.
