Lloydminster is a Canadian city which has the unusual geographic distinction of straddling the provincial border between Alberta and Saskatchewan. Unlike most such cases (such as Texarkana and Kansas City), Lloydminster is not a pair of twin cities on opposite sides of a border which merely share the same name, but is actually incorporated by both provinces as a single city with a single municipal administration.
Lloydminster is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. The district was originally created for the 1908 election. The constituency was reconstituted by the Representation Act, 1994 (Saskatchewan), mostly out of the former district of Cut Knife-Lloydminster and parts of Meadow Lake, Turtleford and Redberry.
The riding was last contested in the 2016 general election, when it returned Saskatchewan Party MLA Colleen Young.
Other communities in the riding include the towns of Marshall, Pierceland, and Paradise Hill.
Lloydminster was an Albertan provincial electoral district that was created prior to the 1971 general election to represent Lloydminster and the surrounding area. Prior to the 1971 election, Lloydminster was part of the Vermilion electoral district.
Prior to the 1993 general election, Lloydminster was merged with parts of the former Vermilion-Viking constituency (which had also been created for the 1971 election) to form the current district of Vermilion-Lloydminster. Since 1971, both Lloydminster and Vermilion-Lloydminster have elected Progressive Conservative MLAs.
Lloydminster is a former provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. This constituency was created before the 2nd Saskatchewan general election in 1908. Abolished in 1934, the riding was incorporated into the district of Cut Knife.
This constituency was reconstituted for the 23rd Saskatchewan general election in 1995.
