Lindau

Lindau (officially in German: Lindau (Bodensee)) is a major town and an island on the eastern side of Lake Constance (Bodensee in German). It is the capital of the Landkreis or county Lindau, Bavaria, and located near the borders of Austria ( Vorarlberg) and Switzerland ( St. Gallen and Thurgau). The coat of arms of Lindau town is a linden tree, referring to the supposed origin of the town's name (Linde means linden tree in German). The historic town of Lindau is located on an island, which is connected with the mainland by a road-traffic bridge and a railway dam leading to Lindau station.

Lindau is a small town and a former municipality in the district Anhalt-Bitterfeld in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is part of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft ("collective municipality") Elbe-Ehle-Nuthe. It is situated near Zerbst on the river Nuthe in the landscape and low mountain range Fläming and Fläming Nature Park. Since 1 January 2010, it is part of the town Zerbst.

Lindau variously referred to as Lindau am Harz, Lindau (Eichsfeld) and K-L-Lindau is a village in the southern Niedersachsen section of the Eichsfeld, Germany. Lindau belongs to the Gemeinde (municipality) of Katlenburg-Lindau and to the Landkreis (district) of Northeim. The village is known by many space physicists and radio engineers around the world, as the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (known as "Max Planck Institute for Aeronomy" until June 2004) was based here until 2014, when it shifted to Göttingen.
