Likas is a sub-district in the city of Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. Sabah's largest sports centre, Likas Sports Complex, is located here. One of Kota Kinabalu' public hospital, Hospital Wanita dan Kanak-kanak Sabah (Sabah Women and Child Hospital) is also located here.
Likas is well known for its strategic location to all access and facilities such as 10 minutes drive to Kota Kinabalu city (capital city of Sabah), shopping complex, government and private hospital, universities and colleges such as University Sabah Malaysia (largest university in Malaysia) and government administration centre.
Likas is mostly occupied by housing estate. One most famous housing estate is known as Kampung Likas (Likas village), it is considered as one of the oldest village in Kota Kinabalu that is still exist. Nowadays, houses in kampung Likas is made from concrete but some wooden house still can be seen.
One of the main attraction in Likas is called "Tanjung Lipat or Likas Bay". Likas Bay is a coastal line stretching about 7 km from the main port of Kota Kinabalu to Tun Mustapha Tower. Along side of Likas Bay is the costal road that connects the city. Likas Bay has a jogging and cycling trek that is paralel along the coast. During holiday break, most family member and friends will gather here to have barbecue picnic as the area is provided with gazebo type of shelter,barbecue pit, public toilet and children's playground. In the evening, an open space eateries or known localy as "Anjung Selera" is open until the late night serving local delicacies. International dragon boat race is held here every year as well and attracts many competitors from around the world to compete the race.
