What is "leiotrichi"

Leiotrichi \Lei*ot"ri*chi\ (-k[imac]), n. pl. [NL., fr. Gr. lei^os smooth + qri`x, tricho`s, hair.] (Anthropol.) The division of mankind which embraces the smooth-haired races.

In early anthropology, Leiotrichi described the races of people distinguished by their smooth hair. Races with hair that is not smooth were termed Ulotrichi.
