Lancegay
Lancegay \Lance"gay`\, Lancegaye \Lance"gaye`\, n. [OF.
lancegaie, corrupted from the same source as E. assagai,
under the influence of F. lance lance. See Assagai.]
A kind of spear anciently used. Its use was prohibited by a
statute of Richard II.
