Kumutu
The word Kumutu has a variety of meanings.
In Saramaccan, a language of Suriname, Kumútu means to leave or "go out from" or Kumutu a döö means to "come outside". It is the idea of "going outside" in which the word Kumutu refers to. For example, "Mi hopo kumutu a di wosu" literally means "I get up and go out of the house" The word Kumutu is also found frequently in African languages with alternative meanings. For example, it means "sieve" in Zanzibar, or "up-stream" in the Buluba-Lulua language spoken in the Congo Basin.
