The Körber Group is headed by the company Körber AG, which is based in Hamburg. Körber AG is a strategic management holding which oversees the Group with the seven Business Areas: Automation, Logistics Systems, Machine Tools, Pharma Systems, Tissue, Tobacco and Corporate Ventures. The Group comprises leading-edge technology companies and over 100 production, service, and sales entities. With nearly 12,000 employees around the world the Körber Group generated sales of over €2.3 billion.

Until his death in 1992, the company founder, Kurt A. Körber, was the sole owner of the Körber AG. The entrepreneur, who remained childless, had already decided in 1969 that the Körber AG would be left entirely after his death to the Körber Foundation, and that it would annually receive a portion of the profits from the Körber Group as a dividend.
