The station was assigned these call letters by the Federal Communications Commission. The call letters reflect the initials of the first owner of the station, Dr. John A. Muggly.

Notable local on-air personalities include Matt Groce on mornings, Matt Hendrickson on mid-days, and Jon Wulf on afternoons with news and ag reports throughout the day from Colonel Jon Phillips and News Director Sue Bergheim.
