Kibibit

The kibibit is a multiple of the bit, a unit of digital information storage, prefixed by the standards-based multiplier kibi (symbol Ki), a binary prefix meaning 2. The unit symbol of the kibibit is Kibit.

1 kibibit = 2 bits = 1,024 bits

The kibibit has existed since 1998 and is closely related to the kilobit, which is equal to 10 bits = 1,000 bits. However, a kilobyte is 1,024 bytes.

The binary prefixes form part of the International System of Quantities (ISQ).
