Kharigaon, Kalwa comes under the Thane Municipal Corporation. The size of the village has increased manifold in recent years, spurred on by a residential boom due to people moving away from Mumbai to find affordable homes and good amenities.

People celebrate Heera Devi jatra in Kharigaon, Kalwa. One day Heera Devi festival is unique festival, retaining its culture and historical significance. More than lakhs devotees visiting for just a small view of the Devi Mata. Many devotees are coming from long distance to worship Heera Devi Mata. During the festival, thousands of devotees offer prayers to heera devi. Devotees standing in long distance queue to just get small view of Devi Mata.The devotees are believing a lot that when you pray in front of Heera Devi, Devi Mata listens and wishes comes true. Lots of devotees donate cash, jewellery after wishes completed. The one-day festival comes with lots of fun fair and enjoyments for children.
The locals here are mostly Hindu Agri who celebrate festivals even lots of other cast people also participate in festival.
DIVISION of Kharigaon It is mainly divided into 4 parts original Kharigaon, Pakhadi, Dattawadi and Parsiknagar. The best part of this city is that jatra(carnival) is celerbrated in 2 more city also.this jatra is on vashak pornima (budha poornima) according to Indian Hindu calendar.
LIFE
Life in Kharegaon is fantastic pass time for the localites. This lake is situated on the main road which goes to Reti Bunder and preferred by the joggers and sports personalities of this village.

EDUCATION
Kharegaon has a number of good schools and tutorials which benefits the student population. To name a few Ganesh Vidhyalaya, Bhavika Vidhyalaya, Sadhana Vidhya Mandir and Padmavati Venkatesh High School. Ganesh Vidhyalaya holds a prime position in this sector. The school coaches over 1250 students on this day. Apart from schools one can also see many classes / tutorials / coaching institutes.

Kharegaon is also home for temples. Jari Mari, Hira Devi, Shiv Mandir & Vithal Mandir near SHREE RAJLAXMI PARK encourage large number of devotees to visit and for worship. There are numerous festivals held at these temples during the year.
TRANSPORT
Kharegaon is situated on Old Mumbai Pune Highway. Thane Municipal Corporation (TMT) buses NMMT and BEST buses are available for Public Transport. Kalwa Railway station is also easily accessible from Kharegaon.
