KERNAL
The KERNAL is Commodore's name for the ROM-resident operating system core in its 8-bit home computers; from the original PET of 1977, followed by the extended but strongly related versions used in its successors: the VIC-20, Commodore 64, Plus/4, C16, and C128.
Usage examples of "kernal".
You are like a chestnut burr, prickly outside, but silky-soft within, and a sweet kernal, if one can only get at it.
A little more sunshine to ripen the nut, then, not a boy's impatient shake, but a man's hand reached up to pick it gently from the burr, and find the kernal sound and sweet.
The kernal within each berry was large, but the layer of flesh around it was sweet and tart in trembling alteration.
