Agitpop is an art punk band from Poughkeepsie, New York. The band was formed in 1981 and began touring widely in 1983. They released four records on the Comm3, Twintone and Rough Trade labels. Its members include Mark LaFalce, John deVries and Rick Crescini. The band was part of a pioneer movement in the underground music community and were particularly known for their unusual song styles, instrumentation and lyrical content within the rock genre. The shows attracted celebrated members of the New York arts scene including the Pop Art era photographer Billy Name.
The portmanteau Agitpop is derived from agitprop and is a conjugation of ‘agitation pop’, a now well defined label that describes how popular music asserts political ideas and views. The band members were enamored with the idea and the origins of the word from the Russian Revolution and used the repetition and philosophy of it within pop culture. Agitpop as a term can be applied to the name of the band itself, but also translates well into the character of the songs themselves.
Agitpop members have often described their approach to music as ‘a unique brand of fractured pop, derived from the dismantling of rock as we knew it.' At the time Agitpop was making their first records, the description worked as a default definition of the approach to making music the band was taking, where provocative amalgam with strong melodic hooks and poignant lyrics prevailed. Keeping with their intents and keeping with the needs of the times to re-define rock music, the band was consequent in their approach and forged a style unique to the times. The live shows were a natural extension of the philosophy of the band was following. Agitpop's performances were very confrontational. They alienated the audience or drew them in.
In a review from trouser press of one of the shows in the mid-1980s, Agitpop's unique stylistic approach to rock music was described with the phrase ‘Free your mind…and your ass will follow'. The review followed them continually around throughout the band's existence. Whether they are put into the music categories of the times or not, they have had a strong influence on many younger bands, inspiring them to adapt a willingness ‘in dismantling’, or emancipating rock away from standard instrumentations and song styles.

Nymwars are conflicts over policies mandating that users of Internet services identify themselves using legal names. The term is a neologism, composed from (pseudo)nym and wars. The name appears to have gained prominence as the hashtag "#nymwars" on Twitter.
Conflicts regarding Google+ began in July 2011 when the social networking site began enforcing its real name only policy by suspending the accounts of users it felt were not following the policy. Pseudonyms, nicknames, and non-standard real names (for example, mononyms or names that include scripts from multiple languages) were suspended. The issue was settled in July 2014 when Google announced that it was ending its real-name policy.
A predecessor to the Google+ conflict was Blizzard's RealID, which starting in July 2010, exposes the name on the player's credit card, and is mandatory to use some game features (cross-game chat) and was nearly made mandatory to post on discussion forums.
These issues have existed since the beginning of online identity, and are related to the alleged online disinhibition effect. The resulting discussions have raised many issues regarding naming, cultural sensitivity, public and private identity, privacy, and the role of social media in modern discourse. The debate has been covered widely in the press including Wired, The Atlantic, and The New York Times.

MagCom was a Norwegian manufacturer of cellular GSM handsets. The company, located in Oslo, was founded in 1999. In its various phases, around 200 million NOK were invested in the company. Insight Capital Partners, Telenor Venture and Anders Wilhelmsen AS were the largest investors.
The company's single product was the triple band MagCom cellular phone, on sale from April 2001.
In the months before the phone became available for purchase, most of the major IT-related media were ecstatic about the new phone, extensively hyping it. Some publications even claiming it would revolutionize the industry. When the phone finally became available for sale, it had already been delayed. Due to this, expectations had grown even higher, and much was expected in terms of functionality and technology. When the phone was launched, it had features that at the time were quite sophisticated:
- Large black and white LCD screen with 64000 pixels, giving room for 27 lines of text.
- User upgradable software
- Web browser with support HTML
- Email ( SMTP and POP3)
- Full calendar, appointment and address book, that could be synchronized with Microsoft Outlook
- Automatic clock adjustment over Network Time Protocol (NTP)
One of the features promoted, was that the magnesium material used for the casing, as well as the form factor, resulted in an exceptionally low specific absorption rate (SAR) for the handset. The value of 0.043 W/kg was rather significantly lower than the legal limit at the time, 2.0 in Europe and 1.6 in the US.
In the initial software release, the browser supported HTML pages, but not WAP. Later upgrades of the support did include support for WAP pages.
Although several software updates were released, sales remained low, resulting in financial problems for the company. Even releasing information about an upcoming new and improved model failed to help the company secure additional financial support. The production was halted early in August 2001, and the company was bought by the Norwegian company Q-Free in September 2001. The company was from then on named Q-Free MagCom, and continued as a separate entity for around a year, after which the production of phones ceased.
Simosteus tuberculatus is a small arthrodire placoderm from the Gogo Formation of Western Australia. Unlike other members of the arthrodire family Camuropiscidae, S. tuberculatus had a short, snub-nose, as directly implied by the translation of its generic name, "snub-nosed bone." Although S. tuberculatus lacks the characteristic elongated nose, it shares other diagnostic features of camuropiscids, such as cheekplates sutured to the cranium.
So far, the only specimen known is of an incomplete cranium.

Keredic was a legendary king of the Britons, as recounted by Geoffrey of Monmouth. The origin of Geoffrey's character is unknown, but he is not depicted as a Saxon. According to Geoffrey, Keredic's rule was so unpopular that the Saxons enlisted the aid of an army of Vandals from Ireland to drive him from his kingdom.
Geoffrey's legendary Keredic may have been a conflation of Cerdic, the traditional founder of Wessex, who, despite his political affiliation with the Saxons, was likely to be half-British himself, and another Cerdic, who reigned over the Celtic kingdom of Elmet around present-day Leeds until his defeat at the hands of Edwin of Northumbria. Whatever the case, Geoffrey places a lengthy interregnum between the expulsion of Keredic and the rise of the next British king, Cadfan.
Keredic should not be confused with Ceredig, one of the sons of Cunedda and traditional founder of Ceredigion.
