Kaupeepee-nui-kauila, Hawaiian Prince of Molokai, the son of Kamauaua, king of Molokai, appears in Hawaiian legends. Probably the best-known was his elopement with Hina, queen of Hilo, this being one of the immediate causes of the a series of wars with the sons of Hina.
He was the Hawaiian Paris and Hina was the Hawaiian Helen and their story is dramatic record of the love and hate, wrong and revenge, courage and custom, passion and superstition, of mythical times. Their story dates to the 12th century, 2400 years after the fall of Troy.
