Kaskikot

'''Kaskikot ''' is a village of Kaski District of Gandaki Zone, Nepal. Kaski district was named from the same VDC. It was one of the kingdom during 22/24 Municipalities era. This village is the start point of Shah Dynasty in Nepal. A remain palace still exists as one of the recognized Hindu Shrine just on the top of the hill. During Dasain holidays various cultural events take place there.

It just lies north of Fewa Lake and West of Pokhara after Sarangkot. The village is located on a mountainside ridge at an altitude of 1,788 m with panoramic Himalayan views. From Kaskikot, on the northern direction Dhawalagiri can be seen in the far west. Annapurna range is clearly visible on the same side. On the Eastern direction the village overlooks the city of Pokhara after panoramic Fewa lake. The population is 5892 with households 1508 as per Nepal census of 2011. Majority of people depends in agriculture.With majority of Brahmin, Chhetri, Thakuri, Magar, and Dalits resides in Kaskikot.

Education
In Every wards there are primary schools. One Higher Secondary School Kalika Higher Secondary School located at Mandredhunga is only the Higher education Institution that teaches up to 12 Class. The other Siddha Bahara Lower Secondary School is educating up to class 8. Apart from government school there is a private school named Shree Bishwajyoti English Boarding School
Health
" There is a general Health Post equipped with primary medicine. Few sub-health post are also available. This health post is operating monthly health camp around the village.
Tourism
Kaskikot is a tourist destination. The Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalaya are clearly visible to the North. Phewa Lake is adjacent. Hotels and home stay arrangements are available.
History
Before the unification of Nepal there were 24 small principalities in west Nepal. Kaski was one of them. The ruins of old palace of the rulers of Kaski can still be seen in Kaskikot. Kulmandan Shah was one of the rulers who established his Kingdom in west Nepal. His descendant Drabya Shah was first to establish Gorkha, source of the legendary Gorkha warriors.
Geography
Kaskikot is around 10 km west of Pokhara. It lies nearly 700 to 1788 meters above sea-level. It share its territory with Sarangkot, Chapakot, Dhikurpokhari and Hemja.

Transportation

Kaskikot is connected with few bus routes. One of the major roadways connects from Pokhara and Sarangkot to Kaskikot. Apart from buses, local agricultural product transport jeep are providing semi-reliable transportation service but they are considered a bit expensive.
