Kartika ( Karttikô, Hindi: कार्तिक Kārtika, Kannada: ಕಾರ್ತಿಕ, Marathi: कार्तिक, , Sanskrit: कार्तिकः, Telugu: కార్తీకం, ), is a Hinduism coined month of Bengali (7th month) and Nepali calendar(1st Kartik), named after the Hindu god, Kartikeya.

In the lunar Hindu calendar, Kartika begins with the new moon in November and is the eighth month of the year except in Gujarat, where it marks the new year that falls on Diwali. In the solar religious calendar used in Tamil Nadu, Kartikai begins with the Sun's entry into Scorpio and is the eighth month of the year.

In the Vaishnava calendar, Damodara governs this month.

Kartik (Nepali calendar)

Kartik is the seventh month in the Bikram Sambat, the official Calendar for Nepalese. This month usually starts on 18 October till 16 November. This month is mostly 30 days long. Kartik is also known as the month of festivals because two major festivals, Dashain and Tihar, usually falls in this month.
