Kapauanuakea

Kapau-a-Nuakea was a Chiefess of Molokaʻi. She ruled as a Queen regnant of the island of Molokai.

According to the myth, her family descends from Nanaulu, 14th generation descendant of the god Wākea.

She was the only known child of Chief Keʻoloʻewa-a-Kamauaua and Chiefess Nuakea. Through her father, she was the granddaughter of Kamauʻaʻua, the first known sovereign lord of Molokai.

Through her mother, she was the great-granddaughter of Maweke and cousin to Elepuukahonua, King of Oahu; Ewaulialaakona, King of Ewa; Mualani, Queen of Koolau; and Haulanuiaiakea, King of Kauai.

No special legend attaches to Kapau-a-Nuakea, nor to her husband Lanileo. Her daughter Kamauliwahine succeeded her as a queen.
