Kannambadi

Kannambadi was a village near Mysore. It was chosen as the site for the construction of the Krishna Raja Sagara Dam in 1910. The village subsequently submerged under the water after the dam was completed. Because of this fact the dam is also known as Kannambadi katte in Kannada.
There is another Kannambadi. Its full name is Aane Kannambadi in Hassan district of Karnataka.

Just before the original village was submerged, the residents were moved to a new village called Hosa Kannambadi (New Kannambadi). A large temple belonging to the hoysala era, The Venugopala Swamy Temple which was originally located there was also submerged. It was relocated to the banks of the reservoir in the late 2000s and is now a tourist hot-spot for those visiting the Brindavan Gardens.
