Kalliopi (food)

Kalliopi ( ; Greek spelling: Καλλιόπη) is a vegetable-based dish from Attica in Greece. The age of the recipe is hard to determine, since the original date of introduction is merely based upon rumors. One can almost be certain however, that the first kalliopi was created recently, because it is hard to find any documentation on a dish named kalliopi before the turn of the century. The ingredients are mostly vegetables and there are no reported versions of kalliopi that contain meat of any kind. Due to its long preparation time, kalliopi will generally only be eaten on special occasions. It is said to be best served warm and eaten with feta and bread.
