Kakapora

Kakapora is one of the tehsils of the Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir state in India. It is located to the south of Srinagar. The district road passes through the town which connects it to District Headquarters Pulwama. It is situated on the banks of Jehlum river and Romash, one of the tributaries of the former. The people are mostly associated with agriculture. Kakapora is a historical place and as mentioned in Kalhan's book of rajtarangni.In modern times kakapora is often referred as rice bowl of Kashmir and the paddy is first sown in the town. There are various commercial units in Kakapora the boost the economic status of town besides agricultural. The people are educated and few are government employees.
