Jangam

The Jangam or Jangama are a Shaiva order of wandering religious monks. They are the priests or gurus of the Hindu Shaiva sect of Lingāyats. Before the formation of lingayatism, Jangam's are known as smarta brahmin and aradhyas. The concept of Brahmin and caste hierarchy does not apply to Lingayat and Veerashaivaite religions.
