Idhayam is a sesame oil brand produced by Idhayam Group of Companies. The company was founded in December 1986 by V. V. V. Rajendran, however, soon thereafter, his sons V. R. Muthu, V. R. Sathyam and V. R. Thendral began to manage the operations of the company. V. R. Muthu is the current CEO of the company.
The company sold 2,600 tonnes of oil in 1988 and 11,000 tonnes in 2000 and 12,284 tonnes in 2001. The turnover jumped from Rs.1.68 crores in 1988 to Rs.7.88 crores in 2001. The oil is available in India, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, Gulf countries and the U.S.
The company started producing and marketing Mantra groundnut oil from year 2006 starting in Tamil Nadu. It also has plans to introduce it in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.
Idhayam is a 1991 Tamil film, the first film to be directed by Kathir. The movie stars Murali and Heera and was a super hit in the 1990s and was also a trend setter for love themes.

Idhayam is an Tamil soap opera on Sun TV. It is a Prime time serial. The show premiered on 10 August 2009. It aired Monday through Friday at 7:30PM IST. Starting from Monday 21 December 2009, the show was shifted to 10:00PM time Slot. The show stars by Seetha, Nithya Das,Shreekumar, Shri, Sanjeev, Chithra Lakshmanan, Nalini, Devadarshini, Neelima Rani, Shyam Ganesh and Sathyapriya.
The show is produced by Sathya Jyothi Films director by B.Nithyanandam and writer by 'Annakili' R.Selvaraj. It had been receiving the highest ratings of Tamil serials and It was credited as the Best Serial and received high praising from viewers. The show last aired on 3 February 2012 and ended with 627 episodes. It was also aired in Sri Lanka Tamil Channel on Shakthi TV.
