What is "ice box"

Ice \Ice\ ([imac]s), n. [OE. is, iis, AS. [=i]s; aksin to D. ijs, G. eis, OHG. [=i]s, Icel. [=i]ss, Sw. is, Dan. iis, and perh. to E. iron.]

1. Water or other fluid frozen or reduced to the solid state by cold; frozen water. It is a white or transparent colorless substance, crystalline, brittle, and viscoidal. Its specific gravity (0.92, that of water at 4[deg] C. being 1.0) being less than that of water, ice floats.

   Note: Water freezes at 32[deg] F. or 0[deg] Cent., and ice melts at the same temperature. Ice owes its cooling properties to the large amount of heat required to melt it.

2. Concreted sugar.

      Ice pick, a sharp instrument for breaking ice into small pieces.

      Ice pilot, a pilot who has charge of a vessel where the course is obstructed by ice, as in polar seas; -- called also ice master.

      Ice pitcher, a pitcher adapted for ice water.

      Ice plow, a large tool for grooving and cutting ice.

The Ice Box is a 5,010-seat multi-purpose arena in Lincoln, Nebraska. It was adapted for hockey upon the Lincoln Stars' (a junior ice hockey team) arrival in 1997. The Ice Box is located at 1800 State Fair Park Drive, on the Former Nebraska State Fair grounds.

An icebox is a compact non-mechanical refrigerator which was a common kitchen appliance before the development of safe powered refrigeration devices.

"Ice Box" is the second single from Omarion's second album, 21. The song features backing vocals by Timbaland. The song peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it his most successful solo single to date. The liner notes credit the production to The Royal Court. The Royal Court includes King and Sir John who are both part of Timbaland’s Camp. The Royal Court is the production team that contributed to the success of “Ice Box”. The song uses a sample from Yasunori Mitsuda's "Memories of Green" from the Chrono Trigger video game ( SNES) and its Original Soundtrack (OST). The song is a departure from his previous singles and is a mid-tempo number.

The single's physical CD release had been cancelled in the United Kingdom, but because the song had such success on the charts, it was decided that the physical release would go ahead. It was released on March 5, 2007. The single was influenced by the romantic relationship between Omarion and his girlfriend that had come to an end. In an interview discussing the hit “Ice Box”, Omarion speaks in very little detail about the reasons for the music produced. Omarion explains that he and his girlfriend at the time had two different worlds and the timing just wasn’t right.

Ice Box is a Thoroughbred racehorse. He is owned by Robert V. LaPenta, and trained by Nick Zito.

Sired by Pulpit out of Spice Island, he is descended from A.P. Indy, Tabasco Cat, Mr. Prospector, Secretariat, Seattle Slew and Alydar, and is kin to 2009 Triple Crown race winners Mine That Bird and Summer Bird.

He won the Florida Derby and qualified for the 2010 Kentucky Derby. From the second post with 10-1 morning odds, he placed directly behind winner Super Saver after a fast run in the final furlong. Ice Box did not race in the 2010 Preakness Stakes. Ice Box was 9th in the Belmont Stakes and did not place in the Travers Stakes, Haskell Invitational Stakes or Monmouth Cup Stakes in 2010. He finished badly (unplaced) in the 2011 Breeders Cup Classics.
