What is "hongqi"

Hongqi (红旗, Chinese for "Red Flag") may refer to:

• Hongqi (magazine), published by the Chinese Communist Party from 1958 to 1988
• Hongqi (automobile), luxury car series of First Automobile Works, Changchun, Jilin, China

Hongqi is a Chinese luxury car marque owned by the automaker FAW Car Company, itself a subsidiary of FAW Group. Hongqi cars were the first domestically produced Chinese passenger vehicles.

First manufactured in 1958, the original Hongqi models were only for high-ranking party elite and remained in production until 1981. The brand was revived in the mid-nineties and fitful production has continued to this day.
