Halfeli is a belde (town) in the central district ( Iğdır) of Iğdır Province, Turkey. It is situated at . The distance to Iğdır is . The population of Halfeli is 7540 as of 2011. The settlement was founded by Halfeli tribe during the Ottoman Empire era. But after Russians captured the province after the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878) the tribe escaped to Iran. After the province was returned to Turkey following the First World War, the tribe returned. In 1994 the settlement was declared a seat of township. The town economy depends on agriculture. The climete is milder than most other Eastern Anatolian towns and a variety of crops are harvested including cotton. Another renevue of the town is livestock trading.
