Haberdine \Hab`er*dine"\ (h[a^]b`[~e]r*d[=e]n" or
h[a^]"b[~e]r*d[i^]n), n. [D. abberdaan, labberdaan; or a
French form, cf. OF. habordeau, from the name of a Basque
district, cf. F. Labourd, adj. Labourdin. The l was
misunderstood as the French article.]
