gooseneck barnacle
n. Any of several filter-feeding crustaceans, of the genus (taxlink Lapas genus), that live attached to hard surfaces of rocks and flotsam in the ocean intertidal zone. It has a long and muscular stalk, which is edible and is considered a delicacy in several Mediterranean countries.
