Gold \Gold\ (g[=o]ld), Golde \Golde\, Goolde \Goolde\ (g[=oo]ld), n. (Bot.) An old English name of some yellow flower, -- the marigold ( Calendula), according to Dr. Prior, but in Chaucer perhaps the turnsole.
