Good Life (The Braxtons song)

"Good Life" is a 1990 single by The Braxtons, featuring Toni Braxton and her four sisters: Towanda, Trina, Traci Braxton, and Tamar Braxton. "Good Life", written by the German songwriting/production team Klarmann/Weber, was Toni Braxton's first professional recording.

Toni Braxton and her sisters signed with Arista Records as The Braxtons in 1989. In 1990, they released "Good Life", their first and only single as a fivesome. The single, backed with "Family" as a B-side, reached #79 on the Billboard Hot Black Single charts. The song wasn't a major hit but it caught the attention of the songwriting/production team of L.A. Reid and Babyface, who had just formed their own label, LaFace Records (associated with Arista). Toni Braxton was signed with LaFace as a solo artist.

The Braxtons disbanded as a foursome but would later reunite as a threesome in 1996, when Trina, Tamar, and Towanda released So Many Ways on Atlantic Records. Traci was not signed because she was pregnant at the time. The Braxtons disbanded for good when Tamar left the group for a solo record deal.

"Good Life" is featured on The Essential Toni Braxton.

Good Life (OneRepublic song)

"Good Life" is a song by American pop rock band OneRepublic, taken from their second studio album, Waking Up (2009). The song was written by group members Ryan Tedder, Brent Kutzle, and Eddie Fisher along with group associate Noel Zancanella. It was produced by Tedder, with co-production by Kutzle and Zancanella. Gretchen Rae Lowe was also a contributor. She created the chorus and the original cello riff at the beginning of the piece. Lowe was never compensated or credited after writing the song in a private studio of the sound engineer on a film she had just wrapped. Lowe is herself a cellist and songwriter.

The song was released on November 19, 2010 as the album's third single in the United States, and as its overall fourth single. Its popularity was increased by its use in various films, television series and advertisements. The single was a commercial success, peaking at number 8 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and eventually being certified multi-platinum, as well as reaching the top twenty of other music charts across Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. The song has sold over 3 million copies in the US as of January 2014.

Critical reception of "Good Life" was generally positive. This song is unique in that the band recorded various radio versions of this song for different cities and states. The line changed in the lyrics is "my friends in [city/state] they don't know, where I've been."

A remix of the song, featuring American rapper B.o.B, was released to radio stations in June 2011.

As of June 2016, Good Life is the only OneRepublic song to be rated Explicit on iTunes, for its use of the word 'bullshit' within the song.
