Głuszyca

Głuszyca is a town in Wałbrzych County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. It is the seat of the administrative district ( gmina) called Gmina Głuszyca, close to the Czech border. The town lies approximately south-east of Wałbrzych, and south-west of the regional capital Wrocław.

Before 1945 the area was part of Germany. After World War II the region was placed under Polish administration and ethnically cleansed according to the post-war Potsdam Agreement. The native German populace was expelled and replaced with Poles. (For more information about the history of the region, see Silesia.)

As at 2006, the town has a population of 6,999.
