GENA stands for General Event Notification Architecture.
GENA Base defines an HTTP notification architecture that transmits notifications between HTTP resources. An HTTP resource could be any object which might need to send or receive a notification, for example a distribution list, buddy list, print job, etc. It was defined in Internet-Draft draft-cohen-gena-p-base-01.txt (now expired).
GENA Base Client to Arbiter provides for the ability to send and receive notifications using HTTP over TCP/IP and administratively scoped unreliable multicast UDP. Provisions are made for the use of intermediary arbiters, called subscription arbiters, which handle routing notifications to their intended destination. It was defined in http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-cohen-gena-client (now expired).
Usage examples of "gena".
At the beginning of each week, Gena and Mary moved through the tiny villages that surrounded Inveraray and dispensed alms among the people.
During these long months, before the thaw of spring, Gena paid diligent duty to the people.
Deciding it best to ignore them, Gena stopped before the woman and smiled.
Confused, Gena looked to Mary, then down at the foul mire covering her gown.
Away from the wagging tongues and gossip hounds of Shira and surrounding villages, perhaps Gena would know peace.
With a nervous glance at the pallet where Mary slept, Gena drew in a silent breath and crept toward the door.
Assured that she did what was best for her father and the clan, Gena moved down the darkened hall.
When their father reached the top, and Gena moved to embrace him, he stepped aside.
Mesmerized by the glimmer in his eyes, Gena could do nothing but stare.
With one last prayer for courage, Gena slipped the key into the lock and turned.
Biting the inside of her cheek to regain her nerve, Gena reached out her hand.
Though the light was dim, Gena knew Mary could clearly see the sorry state of her dress.
When Mary started to finish her speech, Gena silenced her by lifting her hands.
Mary scrambled away as Callum grasped Gena by the arms and pulled her to her feet.
Pain shot through her foot and Gena snatched it away, sucking in her breath.
