Garodias are part of the Agarwal Marwari & Jat community and are now found throughout India, but mainly in the industrial centres like New Delhi, Mumbai, and Calcutta.
First among Garodia Shri Ramkishandasji Garodia & Shri Ramchandraji Garodia came to Mumbai in about the year 1870. They started the business of manufacturing salt. They flourished. Later Shri Ramkishandasji out of hard earned money built dharmshalas, goshalas, donated acres of land towards gochar(land for cow feed) at his native Sujangarh. The charitable & religious work of Shri Ramkishandasji was later carried out by his son Shri Rampratapji, Shri Rampratapji son Shri Shivchandraiji & Shri Shivchandraiji son Shri Sitaramji Garodia(Mumbai based). His sons are carrying the tradition. Shri Ramchandraji settled at village Lady. Amongst the Garodias, Shiv Prasad Garodia who came from Ratannagar, Churu District of Rajasthan settled in Calcutta in the early 1900s. He made a mark in his textiles business and later his great grandson Narayan Prasad Garodia promoted the largest textile mill of Northern India at Faridabad in the 1950s.
Amongst the Garodia "Dilsukh Rai Garodia" settled in siliguri,west Bengal.
Some of the Garodias are also settled in the North Eastern part of India in the city of Guwahati(in the state of Assam). They also find their roots from the Sujangarh locality of Rajasthan.
Most of Garodias are Agarwala but having many Gotra. Sri Motilal Garodia and Sri Hukmichand Garodia of Sujangarh were Single Gotri. Their sons, grandsons and great grandsons are now settled at Guwahati, Kolkata, Dalkhola, Faridabad, Mumbai.
