What is "galatone"

Galatone is a town and comune located in Salento, in the province of Lecce ( Apulia, southern Italy), the former seat of the Marquess of Galatone. It is one of the most populous towns of the province and its territory includes an immaculate stretch of coast overlooking the Ionian Sea with the localities of La Reggia and Montagna Spaccata.
