(Bot.) A genus of papilionaceous herbaceous plants, one species of which ( G. glabra), is the licorice plant, the roots of which have a bittersweet mucilaginous taste.
(Med.) The root of Glycyrrhiza glabra (liquorice root), used as a demulcent, etc.
