  • In the New Testament the apostle Paul in his pastoral letter to the Galatians states that "You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace." (Galatians 5:4 NIV) Paul argues that it is not humanity's sins that constitute a fall from grace, but rather it is our attempts to use our own works to obtain God's favor that is the real fall from the unconditional grace of God.
