EURid vzw/ asbl (European Registry for Internet Domains) is a non-profit organisation appointed by the European Commission on 8 April 2003 as the domain name registry to operate the new .eu top-level domain.
EURid is a consortium of three European ccTLD operators: DNS Belgium (.be), IIT-CNR (.it) and NIC-SE (.se). It has been established in Belgium, having its headquarters in Brussels. In October 2006, they opened their first branch office in Stockholm. Two further branch offices have been opened in Italy and the Czech Republic. There are four associate members: the Academic and Research Network of Slovenia (ARNES), the registry for .si, the national top-level domain for Slovenia, CZ.NIC, the registry for .cz, the national top-level domain for the Czech Republic, ISOC-ECC, the European chapter of the Internet Society, and BUSINESSEUROPE, a confederation of 39 industry-related federations from 33 countries.
EURid uses the Extensible Provisioning Protocol (EPP) which enables registrars to perform operations on .eu domain names directly.
The web site is available in all the official languages of the European Union: Bulgarian, Croatian, Danish, German, Czech, Estonian, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Hungarian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Finnish, Swedish, Greek, Maltese, Irish and Slovenian.
