Wikipedia
Escherichia

Escherichia is a genus of Gram-negative, non- spore forming, facultatively anaerobic, rod-shaped bacteria from the family Enterobacteriaceae. A number of the species of Escherichia are pathogenic. The genus is named after Theodor Escherich, the discoverer of Escherichia coli.
