Elbląg is a city in northern Poland on the eastern edge of the Żuławy region with 124,257 inhabitants (December 31, 2011). It is the capital of Elbląg County and has been assigned (since 1999) to the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. Previously it was the capital of Elbląg Voivodeship (1975–1998) and a county seat within Gdańsk Voivodeship (1945–1975).

The Elbląg (Old English: Ilfing, , Polish: Elbląg) is a river in northwest Poland connecting Lake Drużno with the Vistula Lagoon. The city of Elbląg is situated on the river.

The oldest known mention of the river in the form Ilfing comes from the report of sailor Wulfstan from the end of the 9th century. The report was included in The Voyages of Ohthere and Wulfstan which was written in Anglo-Saxon in King Alfred's reign.
Elbląg is a Polish parliamentary constituency in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. It elects eight members of the Sejm and two members of the Senate.
The district has the number '34' for elections to the Sejm and '33' for elections to the Senate and is named after the city of Elbląg. It includes the counties of Bartoszyce, Braniewo, Działdowo, Elbląg, Iława, Lidzbark, Nowe Miasto, and Ostróda, and the city county of Elbląg.
