Dynamic pressure

In incompressible fluid dynamics dynamic pressure (indicated with q, or Q, and sometimes called velocity pressure) is the quantity defined by:

$$q = \tfrac12\, \rho\, u^{2},$$
where (using SI units):

:{| border="0" |- | q  || = dynamic pressure in pascals, |- | ρ  || = fluid density in kg/m (e.g. density of air), |- | u  || = flow speed in m/s. |}

Usage examples of "dynamic pressure".

On a real biconic a series of pitot-static probes would thrust out of the craft's surface then to confirm measurements of dynamic pressure and airspeed.

I believe the stresses at that time might even exceed those of the period of maximum dynamic pressure during the flight.

He used it like a pilot-tube recording, doing sums in his head to figure the static pressure that should exist at this height, to compare with the dynamic pressure produced by his velocity through the near hard vacuum.

I waited for the dynamic pressure ray to clear the small entrance chamber.
