Duhulla

The Duhulla is an Arabic percussion instrument. It is very similar to the Darabuka (or as known by Egyptians, the Tabla), but it is a larger version and has a deeper sound. Some Arabic musicians refer to this instrument as Bass Tabla. The term "duhulla" comes from the word for "tree", since duhullas were originally made from wood, and the darabukas were from clay. Now of course both drums are made from cast aluminum with mylar heads, and they appear almost identical except for size.
